Ingredients

Beef and Mushroom Casserole

  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1 brown onion
  • 20 grams olive oil
  • 500 grams cassorole, rump or chuck steak, diced into 2-3 cm cubes
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons plain flour or gf flour
  • 20 grams red wine
  • 2 carrots, medium sized, peeled & sliced
  • 200 grams mushroom, chopped, halved and sliced
  • 2 tablespoon TM vegie stock
  • 100 gram water
  • 1 can chopped tomatoes
  • 2 zuchinni, sliced
  • 3 potatos cubed
  • 2 stems of celery chopped

Recipe's preparation

    Method
  1. Chop garlic and onion in TM for 3 sec on speed 7.

    Add oil and saute for 4 min at 100 degrees on speed 1 MC off.

    Add diced meat and cook for 7 min at Varoma temp on Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" soft speed, MC off.

    Add flour and cook for 1 min on Varoma, Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" speed soft.

    Add red wine and cook for 2 min on Varoma,Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" speed soft.

    Add vegetables, TM vegie Stock, water and tomatos,  Cook for 35 min at 100 degrees MC on, Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" Speed Soft.

    Let the casserole sit for 10 minutes before serving. This allows the meat to rest and become more tender.

    Serve over mashed or boiled potato, rice, cous cous, polenta (recipe on the Basic Cookbook chip or just with crusty bread.

    If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
    For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid.     This is a great dependable nutritous and tasty casserole, thank you tmrc_emoticons.)

    I couldn't get beef (corona crisis!!) so used lamb rump and a nice merlot served with cous cous - will be cooked many a time in the future.

    Made it heaps of times. Don’t use mushrooms but add other veggies.

    Easy to make.  Loads of veges in it.  Great meal for family.

    It is deluxe as illustration shows. Despite the complicated procedure, it is awesome.
