Made this and only used 200ml water, added swede and 3 carrots instead of one, bit of thyme and cinnamon. Yummy Big Smile

So glad your son loved it! x

Apologies to everyone who has made this recipe and it was too runny... for a while now I have been meaning to change it but forgot and then when I did there was no clear way to edit it so gave up..... I have now just worked out how to edit the recipe and have done so to say to use 100mls of water, you could possibly get away with using up to 200mls but please use your own judgement and put 50mls in at a time to get it to the consisentcy that you like it - after all everyones tastes are different.

Sorry for some of the dinners I have ruined, I know how disheartening it can be sometimes to make something and it not turn out right.

Hopefully you will give it another chance x

My fussy son with food aversions loved this tonight! I added all the dying veg plus their stems and leaves to the dish at the start so it was all broken down by the end. I didn't add the meat until 10 minutes before the end, as thats how I always get lovely chunky mince instead of mush. I could see that 500ml water was way too much so used common sense and used about 1 MC full, put the lid on and cooked it all for 20 minutes then put the mince in for the last 10 minutes without the MC and with the basket on top. The mash had nothing but water and potato and was perfectly fluffy!

My remark is based on me comparing to amother thermomix recipe I used previously. this one was not as easy to follow, was too runny. I had to reduce water to 2 MC, add 1 Tbs of cornflour to thicken the sauce, it was still runny at the end.

i actually used 700g potatoes and it still wasn't enough.

Wasnt the best sheppard pie I've done sadly.

2 stars because it still tastes ok.

Still says 500ml.  Please try the edit again.  This was terrible.  Wish I had read the reviews and not relied on the recipe.  Dinner ruined sadly.

As others have said 500mls is way too much water. I made it with 150ml and it turned out great.

Apologies all! this seems too much water and was a typo!! Try 150mls of water.... I will edit it now x

I can't believe I didn't read the other reviews... I thought it was odd that there was 500mls of water in the recipe. I have never cooked with that much water and didn't think about it this time. It was way too runny. I am gonna to try 2 MC capfuls.  Also my question to the person who posted this?  is this how you have always cooked Shepherd's pie with 500mls of water?
