I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
- 1. Place the blade cover/peeler in place. Add 600 grams of water and place the lid on, without the measuring cup.
2. Drop the potatoes through the hole, if they don't fit, cut them to size.
3. Set the Thermomix to peeler mode for 4 minutes. Depending on how dirty they are, this may take 2 minutes, may take 4. Please note if you stop the recipe, the time resets. I don't mind a little peel on mine, you do what suits you. Make sure you measuring cup is in place.
4. Once peeled to your liking, rinse the potatoes and place them into a simmering basket and rinse well.
5. Dice into small chunks, about 2cm.
6. Remove the blade cover
7. Rinse the Thermomix bowl.
8. Add 500 grams of water to the bowl.
9. Insert the simmering basket and add the potatoes back in.
10. Cook for 20 minutes, varoma, speed 1, or until tender.
11. Drain, add the potatoes, salt, butter and milk back in. Reduce/omit the salt to your liking.
12. Mash for 4 seconds on speed 6, reverse.
13. Insert butterfly and mash for 5 seconds speed 4. Continue more if needed, be mindful that it can become gluggy if over mashed 👍
Depending on the potato, you will need to add or reduce the milk.

If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl. Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
