Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 1 onion, small
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 zucchini, small
  • 1 carrot, small
  • 500 grams Beef mince
  • 3 sprigs parsley
  • 3 sprigs fresh basil
  • 15 grams Barbecue Sauce
  • 10 grams tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 130 grams rice, white - uncooked
  • salt
  • pepper, ground

Sauce

  • 1 onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 zucchini
  • 1 carrot
  • 3 sprigs fresh basil
  • 3 sprigs parsley
  • 1 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 can tomatoes, 400g each
  • 1 tablespoons Vegetable stock paste
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoons sugar raw
  • 300 grams water
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, ground, to taste

Recipe's preparation

    Meatballs
  1. Place onion, garlic, zucchini, carrot and herbs in bowl
    Mix 10 seconds/speed 7
  2. Scrape down sides of bowl
    Add remaining meatball ingredients and mix on reverse/speed 5 until all combined
  3. Roll golf ball size meatball mixture into balls and place on both varoma trays
  4. Rinse TM bowl
  5. Sauce
  6. Add onion, garlic, herbs, zucchini and carrot to bowl - Mix 5 seconds/speed 7
  7. Add olive oil and cook - 2 minutes/100degrees/speed 1
  8. Add tin tomatoes, water, vegetable stock, tomato paste and sugar.

    Close lid (without MC) and place varoma on top and cook for 40 mins/varoma/speed 1
  9. Checked meatballs all cooked

    If you want to reduce sauce a bit more, take off Veroma and place basket on the lid instead and cook 10 mins/100 degrees/speed 1


    Serve meatballs topped with lots of tomato sauce and grated cheese.

Tip

You will have a double batch of sauce. Keep a serve aside for another day or freeze.

You can use this sauce anytime as a basic sauce for pasta, pizza anything

    I made this exactly as listed (apart from using white sugar instead of raw sugar as that is what I had on hand and used chicken stock as I had no veggie stock at the time) and it turned out excellent. Love that there is extra sauce to freeze. Great way to add 'hidden veggies' into meals too. We all thought it was great, including the fussy kids.

    I have made different versions over the years but this is my favorite.
