Ingredients

Cheddar biscuit bites "Lepelsteeltjies"

  • 200 g Cheddar cheese
  • 250 g Butter
  • 300 g plain flour
  • pinch salt
  • pinch cayenne pepper
  • level tsp baking powder
  • level tbsp Milk
  • 4 level tbsp apricot jam

Recipe's preparation

  1. Preheat oven 200°C and line two trays with non stick baking paper.

    Add diced cheddar cheese to mixing bowl, insert measuring cup into lid and grate 5sec sp 7
    Place into a seperate bowl.
  2. Add softened butter to mixing bowl, place measuring cup into lid 10 sec sp 5
  3. Add flour, salt, cayenne, baking powder, milk
    Mix 5 sec sp 5
    Scrape down the sides
  4. Add cheese to the dough
    Combine 6sec sp 4
  5. Scrape dough out of bowl onto a silicone bread mat, lightly roll into a ball
  6. Divide dough into walnut size balls and place on a tray with baking paper
    Press the back of a wooden spoon into each ball to create a small well.
  7. Fill each well with 1/4 tsp apricot jam and bake for 20 min.

    Remove and cool 5 min on tray before tranferring to a wire rack.
  8. Keep in a cool place in a airtight container.

Tip

Enjoy as a savoury / sweet biscuit with coffee or tea, or part of your grazing platter
