Recipe's preparation

    Beef Stew with Buttermilk Dumplings
  1. Before preparing dumplings, chop parsley by placing in TM bowl and chopping for 4 seconds on speed 6.  Set aside.

Without washing the bowl, place all dumpling ingredients into the TM bowl and mix for 20-30 seconds on speed 5 until dough forms a ball.

Roll dumplings into nugget size balls and place in the Varoma tray, leaving space to expand.  Set aside.

Without washing the bowl, place onion, garlic and oil into the TM bowl and chop for 3 seconds on speed 6.  Saute for 3 minutes/ Varoma / speed 2.

Add beef and cook for a further 2 minutes a/ Varoma / reverse / speed 1.

Add remaining ingredients except parsley and frozen peas and cook for 40 minutes/ 80 degrees/reverse/speed soft.

Place Varoma with dumplings into position and cook for a further 25 minutes/Varoma temperature/Reverse/speed soft, adding peas after 15 minutes.

Remove bay leaves, add parsley and adjust seasoning as required.  Serve dumplings on top of each serving of stew.

    Yum!

Thanks so much for this super easy recipe.

Added two potatoes and some mushrooms as others had suggested. Also added half a tin of tomatoes and then poured liquid stock up to the MAX line (in lieu of water). A splash of balsamic when I added the peas= YUM!

I’ve been looking for a nice beef stew recipe for the thermie and this hit the spot. Hubby doesn’t like dumplings so I served it with mashed potatoes instead. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for sharing. I used lamb instead of beef and added celery and spinach. It was meant to be for my kids but it was so good we all ate it

The whole family LOVED this Beef Stew! Such a tasty, hearty meal for a cooler night, plus those Dumplings were a bonus. (I did try making them as GF & DF so they were on the tougher side but everyone devoured them lol, however I will def try them again and not mix them as much.) I only used 1 Tablespoon of Vegie stock and the stew was still very tasty, hubby didn't add extra salt as he usually does to my dishes, and I found it on the saltier side for me. Meat was very tender, cooked the time suggested and I used chuck/stewing steak. Served with mashed potatoes (made on stovetop as I was already running late with dinner). Thank you! 😊😋😘

Loved it! It was way easier than I expected. Only downside was I didn't spot the 40 minutes cooking time in the middle of the info and didn't realise it would take so long. it was worth the wait though!

Loved it, I halved the quantity and added half a cup of Freekeh, Lentil & bean mix.
