I'm cooking this todayRecipe's preparation
1. Add all ingredients to TM bowl and blitz - 10 sec/speed 8
2. Cook for 40 min/120deg/speed 2. Place simmering basket over lid to prevent splatter
3. When sauce has finished cooking, blitz for 1 min/speed 10
4. If you want an even smoother consistency, use a spoon or spatula to push sauce through a metal sieve (or strain through a nutbag) and into a clean bowl
5. Transfer into sterilised bottles and refrigerate or freeze

Sauce Prep for TM5 - makes about 700ml
Sauce Prep for TM31 - makes about 500ml
Tip
Be mindful of which recipe you use in your machine. I have adapted the recipe to suit both the TM5 and TM31. The TM31 result is a bit thicker than the TM5 version so add an extra 20g water if you want your sauce to be a thinner consistency. Try to resist tasting your sauce as soon as it is finished. The flavours settle a little over a few hours. Enjoy!
** Should last 4-6 weeks in the fridge, and 6 months in a vacuum sealed bottle in the pantry. Please note that the storage time is just a guide. Feel free to do your own research, and use common sense when handling homemade sauces
** I like to separate mine into 4 portions and freeze them until required
** Make sure you leave the MC off to allow some sauce reduction. This will give you a nice thick tomato sauce
** When cooking for TM31, sauce will bubble slightly at the 10min mark but not enough to overflow. Sauce is contained in lid

Recipe is created for
TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl. Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Absolutely wonderful. Loved by all! Thanks.
An amazing tomato sauce recipe, keeps well (not that it lasts long enough to spoil!). The whole family loves it. I make it as is, no adjustments, in my TM5 and it comes out great.
My kids preferred it over the shop bought one!
I have a tm6.
Ive tried both tm31 & tm5 sauce recipes in my tm6.
The tm5 sauce was the better of the 2. It made more, a little runny, but more smooth, & tasted the same as bought sauce. I definitely would make this again!
The Tm31 sauce was ok. I do like the thicker texture this one made, but it wasnt blended well. I think it needed longer. It didnt make much either. And I didnt go much on the taste. I dont think id make this one again.
Does the recipe require yellow mustard seeds or black mustard seeds?
Lives up to its title! This sauce is amazing, my whole family love it, even my fussy eater. I've also successfully preserved the sauce so it lasts longer in the pantry.
Did this recipe previously say to first roast the tomatoes, capsicum and garlic before adding them into the thermomix bowl?
Yep my kids love this too! Thanks loads
great sauce, really nice taste and so super easy to make, thank you for sharing
A must try..... this recipe is amazing, won't be buying tomato sauce any more
Thank you
