  • 2 Medium onions, quatered
  • 1-3 small fresh green chillis
  • 30 grams olive oil
  • 2 level teaspoons cinnamon powder
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can kidney beans, canned, drained
  • 450 g Beef mince, made in TM if preferred
  • to taste salt
  • 30-60 grams Dark cooking chocolate, broken in squares
  • sprigs fresh parsley

Recipe's preparation

    Chilli sauce
  1. Add onions and chilli to bowl and chop 5 seconds sp 5

    Add oil and cinnamon and cook 1.5 mins 100C speed 1

    Add tomatoes and kidney beans cook 10 mins 100c Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" Gentle stir setting"Gentle stir setting"

    Add meat and seasoning through hole in lid. Cook 10 mins 100CCounter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" Gentle stir setting"Gentle stir setting"

    Add chocolate to bowl and cook 3 mins 100C Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation" Gentle stir setting"Gentle stir setting"

    Serve with crusty bread, rice or over a baked potato. Add parsley to decorate if required.

    Love this! Is a standard. I sometimes substitute using Kangaroo mince and tastes just as delicious.

    Yes sorry Marnie! I have updated the recipe. Not sure how that got left out. I think it is my poor computer skills! I got this recipe in the UK when I was training to be a nurse 25 years ago! Nothing to do with MKR! This one is much simpler and has far less ingredients!

    I think there are quite a few ingredients missing in this recipe (looked on MKR website.....

    2 tsp olive oil1 chorizo sausage, cut into 1cm dice1 large onion, finely chopped3 cloves garlic, crushed1 bird’s eye chilli, seeded, finely chopped1 tbs ground coriander3 tsp ground cumin1 tsp smoked paprika 500g beef mince250g chuck steak, cut into 2cm pieces440g can chopped tomatoes 100g dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids), finely chopped500ml beef stock2 tbs dried oregano 1 cinnamon stick400g can red kidney beans, drained

    Yes, they had to go out into the streets of Melbourne and sell ready-to-go lunches and spruik them.  The ladies from WA I think were the ones who did the chocolate chili con carne and it was highly praised by Pete and Manu.  Only on a couple of days ago, so I thought you must have been inspired by that.
