Ingredients

Sausage Casserole

  • 2000 grams potatoes
  • 80 g Butter
  • .375 litre Milk
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 onions
  • 1500 g sausages
  • 150 g tomato sauce
  • 150 g Bbq sauce
  • 2 packages french onion soup mix
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 120 grams cheese

Recipe's preparation

    Method
  1. Place half of the roughly chopped potatoes in the Thermomix bowl. Add water until the potatoes are just covered.
  2. Cook for 20 minutes/Varoma/speed 1.Blend"Blend" 1
  3. Drain the potatoes and transfer to a separate bowl
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 with the remaining potatoes.
  5. Return all the cooked potatoes to the Thermomix bowl. Add the butter, milk, salt, and pepper.
  6. Mash for 30 seconds/speed 4. Check consistency and mix for a few more seconds if needed.
  7. Transfer the mashed potatoes to a separate bowl and clean the Thermomix bowl.
  8. Add the olive oil and sliced onions to the Thermomix bowl. Sauté for 5 minutes/120°C/speed 1.
  9. Add the sausages to the bowl and chop for 5 seconds/speed 4, then cook for 5 minutes/Varoma/reverse/speed 1.
  10. In a jug, whisk together the tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, French onion soup mix, flour, and 1 1/2 cups of water.
  11. Add the sauce mixture to the Thermomix bowl and cook for 10 minutes/100°C/reverse/speed
  12. Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).
  13. Spoon the sausage mixture into a large casserole dish.
  14. Top with the mashed potato.
  15. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the mashed potato.
  16. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until the cheese is golden.
    Serve hot.
