Recipe's preparation

  1. Warm the milk and yeast for 2 min/37 deg/speed 1. Line a baking pan or roasting tray with baking paper.

  2. Add the flours, salt and olive oil, mix 6 sec/speed 6, then 3 min/dough mode. Turn out onto bread mat and prove 30 min or until doubled in size. Set oven to 200 degrees.

  3. Knock down dough, then split into two portions. Roll out first portion into a rectangular shape approx 5mm thick, then spread with butter and Vegemite. Sprinkle just over ⅓ of the cheese over the surface. Roll the dough from the longest edge, then cut into scrolls about 5cm thick.  Repeat with second portion.

  4. Place scrolls cut side up close to each other in the baking pan and sprinkle remaining cheese over the top. Bake approx 15 minutes or until cooked.

Tip

Baking in a pan or roaster provides extra heat on the sides which helps it rise better.

This was the first time I’ve baked bread without (grown up) assistance! They turned out really well so it must be a good recipe! Will do these again for sure. Also a mini version would be great for kids birthday parties.

I've lost count of how many times I've made this.  They are a winner in our house, every time.

A lovely, easy recipe.  I made these and popped them straight into the freezer for school lunches before they all got eaten.

Lovely! Such a beautiful dough to work with. Not at all sticky and fantastic when using the thermo mat. Great to use wholemeal flour, hopefully the kids won't notice. tmrc_emoticons.;)  Thanks for sharing.

These were a hit in our house. I'm making my second batch now, as the first batch didn't even last 48hrs! Easy and simple recipe.. Thankyou!

Quick and easy recipe - great for school lunches but super yummy when they're straight out of the oven!

I also used plain flour instead of wholemeal.  They turned out very nice. We used one half for cheese and Vegemite and the other half of the dough with pizza sauce and ham. My daughter loves them. Great for school lunches.

This is a forgiving recipe so I'm sure they turned out well. Thanks for your comment tmrc_emoticons.)
