I'm cooking this today

Recipe's preparation

  1. ** To use the Thermomix to make mashed potatoes, cut them up into 2cm pieces. Place 500g water into bowl, place potatoes into simmering basket and into bowl 15min Varoma sp4. Once cooked, add a drop of butter or milk if you like. Empty water from bowl, insert butterfly and add potatoes, 10-15sec sp4. Set aside.

** FOR PALEO VERSION - To make Cauli mash, add 500g water into bowl, add cauli florets into simmering basket 10-12min Varoma sp4. Once cooked, empty water from bowl, add cauli, 10-15sec sp4. Set aside.

    Pre-heat oven 180deg

    PIE:

Add garlic and onion (peeled and halved) to bowl, 5sec sp5

    Add 30g ghee, sautée 4min Varoma sp2

Add mince plus salt and pepper 15sec sp5. You could slightly cook the mince at this point, it'll retain some moisture and won't dry up in the oven. 5min Varoma sp3 MC on. Scrape sides half way if you need to.

    Add the veggies, 10sec sp3 Counter-clockwise operation"Counter-clockwise operation"

Pour mince and veggies into baking dish, spread over mashed potato or cauli mash, sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top if you like - optional (won't' be Paleo). Bake for 20-25min until the breadcrumbs are golden. Increase oven temperature if you need to, different ovens will vary.

If you want to get creative, add some herbs and spices and put your own touch on the pie.

    Enjoy!

    Recipe is created for
    TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!
