- 1 onion, Cut in Half
- 1 carrot, Cut into pieces
- 2 garlic cloves
- 30 g Olive oil or coconut oil
- 1 tsp Tarragon, dried
- 1/2 tsp Thyme, dried
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 3 tomatoes, Diced
- 750 g water
- 190 g French lentils
- 100 g Barley
- 1 tbsp vegetable stock
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp himalayan pink salt

Place Carrot, Garlic and Onion to the bowl
5 Seconds, Speed 5
Add oil and Saute
3 Minutes, Speed 1, 120 Degrees
Add Tarragon, Thyme & Paprika
2 Minutes, Speed 1, 120 Degrees
Add Tomatoes, Water, Stock, Lentils, Barley, Bay Leaf & Salt
45 Minutes, "Counter-clockwise operation" , "Gentle stir setting" , 100 Degrees
If Lentals & Barley are not completly soft cook for an additional
10 Minutes, "Counter-clockwise operation" , "Gentle stir setting" , 100 Degrees
Serve or add to Thermoserver for later

Tip
Leave overnight to thicken and use in a pie with Shortcrust Pastry

Its my go to recipe
I love barley soups and this was easy and lovely. The only thing I did different was add two tbs tomato paste as I wanted more rich tomato flavour. Another quick reheatable meal for my freezer!
Thank you for this delicious recipe. I used the leftovers the next day as the base for a warm lentil, beetroot and goats cheese salad which was also very yummy.
