tmixmic: i used 2
keen to try, thank you for the recipe... just one question... could this be made ahead and frozen ??
is the texture still the same after or would it be a bit sloppy ??
Fantastic recipe
Has anyone made this GF? Just wondering what to sub the oats with that will still make the meatballs hold together.
This recipes is a great meatless meal. It is very tasty and easy to make. Everyone really enjoyed it even the meat eaters. I will be makiing this recipe again and again. Thank you for sharing.
NadiaGopal: Yep. i used 1/5 Tbs of ground flax soaked in a bit of water until it was gloopy. The balls stayed in perfect shape
This was delish!!! I added BBQ sauce to the walnut mixture too
I loved this recipe even though the kids weren't quite so keen on the meatballs. I only had 60g walnuts and used 40g cashews. I would process the nuts and oats a little more for a finer result. I used 2 celery stalks in the sauce and it was delicious. I cooked the meatballs (1 tbsp size) in the Varoma while the sauce was cooking but finished them off in the frypan for colour and a little more flavour before adding the sauce to the pan for about 5 minutes prior to serving.
Jennae: I've not tried these yet, but the meatballs are quite similar to the vegetarian sausage roll recipe (which I make often). That mixture is quite funny too but it often helps to put the mixture in the fridge for a while. That allows the oates to absorb the liquid.
Ummm not sure why the ball mixture was so sloppy. I added arrowroot flour to thicken.
It was still not great. I followed recipe to the Tee. Maybe would be better with using one egg next time?
